Might I offer an alternative theory?

Episode 140: “Might I offer an alternative theory?”

Shop talk: The last panel is one of those scenes which just got sillier as I drew it. I knew our hero would have an axe – and maybe an arrow – in his back. And then I just kept adding weapons. Poor guy. I’m super happy withe the drawing in that last panel – from his expression to his twisting figure to his hands down to the hints of toes inside the socks.

Also, in the last panel, you can see hard, black shadows – which I’ve rarely used because of how I color the comic strip. From the beginning, I’d used outlines to define the figures and added any shadows in the coloring stage. I’ve changed the process a little – adding a step because that’s what I just keep doing 🙂 This will mean more heavy black shadows – which I love.

  1. What the Hell is wrong with this damn thing? I started reading the strip about a week ago, I have gotten to page 36, and I can’t go any further. I have tried going backwards from this page, and it stops at page 60, and won’t go any further. Why?

    1. Thom, Hi! Thanks for the note. Can you tell me on what kind of device/browser you’re reading the story? If this site is causing issues with your device, the story is also available to be read for free at GoComics:

BTW – a new site design is the next goal of my Patreon page and I hope we’ll be able to relaunch on a new host with a more mobile-friendly design some time in the summer. Thanks again for the note! — Steve

  2. Suddenly, it is working. I am using Firefox as a browser, as I find it the least offensive to manipulate. I have no idea what happened. I would like to mention something else I noticed. On page 35, there is a link, to download a free copy of the first book of this series. It no longer works, and it is 2years old. You might want to consider removing it. Just sayin’. And thanks for the tips, viewing wise. Plus, bring back the guy that speaks Gothic. I like him!

    1. Thanks for the update, Thom! Happy to hear it’s working! Thanks for the note about that expired link. I’ve removed it!

And Kevin the Illegible will definitely be back! 🙂
